We have had a busy few weeks with many companies coming in to plant trees as part of our association with Trees on the Land. It is helping to develop the site and will create the best conditions for the horses and help to encourage local wildlife especially pollinators and birds. Start of the Event Season
We had great fun using the gallops and cross-country training at Devils Glen Equestrian followed by a fantastic day out eventing at Monart Equestrian. Two of our young horses really impressed on their eventing debuts. Our superstar pony Ardeo Rocketman finished on his dressage score of 16 in the Novice section.

Exciting start to 2020
It’s been a really fun winter with a lot happening at Ardeo Sport Horse. Lots of horses have been coming through with sales both at home, Great Britain, the US and mainland Europe with our most recent graduate going to Switzerland. We have been having fun using the all weather cross complex and our new portable fences thanks to William Micklem’s great design and Tony Mcmenamon cross country building. Ardeo Arctic Wolf
Ardeo Arctic Wolf has packed his bags for Texas. Ardeo Arctic Wolf or Salt as he is affectionately known, had a very impressive season in 2019 competing both under Eventing Ireland and FEI rules with a number of wins and placings. This 8 year old Irish Sport Horse by Out of Touch (a son of Out of Touch). Salt travelled all over Ireland competing all year, from Tyrella at the start of the season, Clyda, Crecora, Killossery, Camphire international, Kilguilkey international finishing up at Ballindenisk International in the CCI2*. Clooney continues his impressive showjumping form clocking up double clear after double clear for his new owner Carol Gee of Fernhill Sport Horses He has been competing Vilamoura Equestrian Centre CSI3* in Portugal jumping upto 1.50m with multiple top placings. He is at CEIA Centro equestro international in Belgium he placed 1st and 2nd at 140 with Francis Derwin as well as 4th and 5th in the speed classes with Carol Gee. Trees on the Land
Ardeo have been lucky to have “Trees on the Land” assisting in the development of our new site to provide the horses with natural shelter and windbreak from the weather as well as enhancing the scenery with native trees. We have had quite a number of trees planted over the past winter months. 4,500 plants in the ground planted: -2,300 whitethorn/hawthorn -600 Blackthorn -600 Hazel -300 Beech -170 Sessile Oak -50 Crab apple -170 Lime -220 Holly Plus fewer numbers of birch, alder and rowan. Ardeo Rocketman, our 148cm event pony made his EI110/2* debut at Ballyvannon and excelled himself proving what a superstar we know he is, crusing around with ease into 4th place with a double clear beating all the pros on their horses! EI100 winner at Hillcrest was Ardeo Castleconnor(Sligo) who decided it was time for him to join the other horses on winners podium! He completed on his super dressage of 26.5.
