The 154th Balmoral Show took place in May and the team at Ardeo Sport Horses were thrilled to attend with the lovely Ardeo on Q (5 year old gelding by OBOS Quality). It was Neil and Melanie’s first time attending or riding at this prestigious event and the whole team were very much looking forward to attending. Ardeo on Q put in a stellar performance to qualify in the 5 Year Old ‘Star of the Future‘ qualifier held at Wexford Equestrian Centre in March.

The aim of this class is to identify high quality horses bred in Ireland with the potential to become top class performance horses, whether that be in show jumping or eventing. Its aim is to create a medium for breeders and producers to display their quality young stock and to encourage breeders and trainers to produce the type of horse likely to make it at the top level.

It was an absolute honour to attend this show with Ardeo on Q, our 5 year old gelding by OBOS Quality. He arrived hot off the back of the HSI Stud Book Series show jumping qualifiers where he competed the previous weekend. He really showed his talent in front of judge Lt Col Tom Freyne, finishing 6th in a very competitive line up.

On this occasion Neil and Melanie brought the eldest three of their 4 young children with them – Ruby, Timothy and Abigail – along with Grandpa, Vincent Wrynn.  A lot of fun was had by all, young and old, watching their Mummy collecting a rosette, as well as shopping and exploring all the other exhibits the superb Balmoral Show has to offer!
